About me
In February 2025, I completed my PhD in Computer Science at Imperial College London, where I was a Doctoral Scholar under the supervision of Professor William J. Knottenbelt. My thesis, titled Diagrammatic Algebra for Equivariant Neural Network Architectures, was examined by Professor Alessio Lomuscio (Imperial College London) and Professor Haggai Maron (Technion/NVIDIA Research). I was honoured to receive one of the G-Research Imperial College London PhD Prizes for my research, which was supported by a Doctoral Scholarship that was funded through the Department of Computing Applied Research scheme.
Before my PhD, I did my undergraduate studies in Mathematics, also at Imperial College London, graduating at the top of my year with an MSci degree in 2015. I then went to work in the asset management/hedge fund industry for a total of four years, initially at Newton Investment Management in London as a Business Strategy Analyst and then as a Risk Analyst. I then moved to Jersey (in the Channel Islands) to work for BlueCrest Capital Management, where I was a Trading Assistant for a systematic, G10 Rates portfolio, and was subsequently promoted to work as a Risk Analyst for BlueCrest in London. During my time in finance, I passed all three levels of the CFA exams (I, II, and III) on my first attempt, achieving this in the shortest time possible (18 months). In 2019, I decided to study for an MSc degree in Computing Science at Imperial College London, where I was awarded a Distinction and received a Distinguished Prize for my master's thesis on the topic of Quantum Computing (specifically, the Hidden Subgroup Problem). In 2023, while working on my PhD, I undertook a summer internship at Riverlane, a quantum computing/quantum error correction company based in Cambridge, England, as a Quantum Scientist in their Fault-Tolerance division. I worked on solving design and decoding problems in quantum error correction. I also recently became a member of the British Computer Society and a member of its Specialist Group on Artificial Intelligence, a EurAI member society.
I have a wide range of interests that I try to keep up with whenever I can. I'm an avid Newcastle United supporter and spend a good chunk of my time watching football, rugby, and cricket. I enjoy visiting art galleries all across Europe, with a particular focus on Impressionism, Van Gogh, and also Picasso. (The image at the top of this page is one I took of the garden at Claude Monet's former home in Giverny. Monet is synonymous with Impressionism, having given the movement its name with his 1872 painting Impression, Sunrise.) My bookshelf continues to be filled up with more and more books (mostly non-fiction), though I must admit, I don’t always manage to read as many books as I would like! In general, I just enjoy learning new things. Recently, I've started reading about the history of Ancient Egypt and I hope to visit the important sites one day once I’ve learned much more about it.
